European favourites out of the competition
In a day filled with gripping battles on the court, Scottish women’s singles player Kirsty Gilmour, along with Christo Popov from France and Julien Carraggi from Belgium, bid farewell to the Madrid Spain Masters after putting up a strong fight. Despite their valiant efforts, they couldn't secure victories to advance to the quarterfinals.
Spanish mixed doubles fall short
Two Spanish mixed doubles pairs faced tough competition today but unfortunately fell short in their quest to advance. Jacobo Fernandez/Paula Lopez couldn't overcome the French duo Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue, losing in straight games. Similarly, Ruben Garcia/Lucia Rodriguez faced a formidable challenge against Cheng Kuan Chen/Yin-Hui Hsu (TPE), ultimately losing in a hard-fought three-game battle.
Danish triumph
On a brighter note, Danish player Mads Christophersen secured an impressive win in a thrilling three-game match against Chia Hao Lee (TPE). Christophersen, who lost to Lee in the qualification stage at the YONEX Swiss Open last week, expressed his happiness and anticipation for tomorrow's matches. Additionally, the young Danish men’s doubles duo William Kryger Boe/Christian Faust Kjær also advanced to the quarterfinals.
As we say goodbye to some European contenders, the stage is set for the quarterfinals tomorrow. Stay tuned for live coverage and updates as the remaining players battle it out for glory on the courts of Madrid.
