Gender Equity in badminton constitutes a key subject – not only for Badminton Europe (BEC) but also for the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Both BEC’s terms of reference and BWF’s statutes aim to achieve a balanced gender representation in all badminton activities.

To achieve this general objective, Members are encouraged to work together with BEC to attract more participants from underrepresented gender in all BEC activities. As a general target, Badminton Europe is working towards a minimum of 30% participation of each gender in our activities.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a worldwide event that celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is run annually on the 8th of March and the aim of celebrating it is to inspire for changes. This day is all about making a difference by taking concrete action to help determine change. Every small activity can have an influence on how quickly gender parity will be achieved and only by launching new initiatives and raising awareness of women’s achievements we can hope for progress.
