What a start to the year for Anders Antonsen. Two wins from two after a nail-biting final at the DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters.

Antonsen faced off against Canada’s Brian Yang, who put on a terrific display in the semifinal against crowd favourite Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. In the final, Yang started the brightest, taking the opening game.

That was the first game lost for Antonsen this week which triggered a strong response from the Dane, ultimately forcing a decider. Antonsen knew his opponent had more mileage in his legs from previous rounds and played the conditions well, working a way to six match points.

As he did in the semifinal, Yang dug in and saved four of those six match points. The tension was palpable. When Antonsen got that final necessary point, he collapsed to the floor in relief. 18-21, 21-13, 21-18.

A second title to add to his Malaysia Open success.

Carnando / Marthin defend title
Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin became the first back-to-back men’s doubles title winners at the Indonesia Masters since Marcus Gideon/ Kevin Sukamuljo.

They defeated Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in three-games, staying cool and running away with the win in the third game, 21-12, 20-22, 21-11. Confirming the men’s doubles title stays in Indonesia.
