Richard Perot is the fourth member of Badminton Europe (BEC) Athletes´ Commission.
The French para-badminton national player was elected after a process of e-mail voting, combined with a physical voting session which took place in Basel during the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships last week.
Perot will now be a Commission Member of two commissions in BEC - the Athletes´ Commission and Para-badminton Commission. On winning the election, Perot expressed:
- I am happy a para athlete representative is now joining Badminton Europe Athletes and Para- badminton commissions. I will work so our voices are heard and I will make sure to gather the European players´ concerns and ideas. Thanks to Alan for nominating to the election. I will make sure he can forward all his inputs to BEC.
- I also look forward to sharing and participating in BEC meetings to improve together.
Perot´s motivation which led to his win were his concern and commitments in para-badminton. He first discovered para-badminton in 2010 and has since then participated in all European Para-Badminton Championships and Para-Badminton World Championships from 2011 to 2017.
- I wish to contribute to para-badminton in Europe and help players to achieve their goals.
On international commitments, he is the Chair of BWF Para-badminton Athletes´ Commission 2017-2021, I am BWF “I am badminton ambassador” since 2015 and Proud Paralympian leader of the Agitos Foundation (International Paralympic Committee). While back in France, Perot is the Founder and President of Frap (France para-badminton) where he promotes para-badminton in France.
