’’The Balkan Championships in Karatas truly was a high level badminton event and I would like to express my sincere congratulations to the Badminton Association of Serbia for the perfect competition management as well as the huge competition success. I was especially pleased to see vast number of young, high quality badminton players coming from the Balkan countries who comprise one fifth of the total number of Federations within our European Confederation. BEC as a Continental Federation promotes and finds  the developement of all the regions very important, and I have recognized a large badminton potential within the Balkan region", said João Matos.

In the event, Badminton Team Serbia concluded its good performance at the U15 Balkan Badminton Championships. In this historical and record breaking event, which included competitors from nine Balkan countries for the first time in history, Serbia won a silver medal in team competition and two gold, one silver and one bronze medals in individual competition. This triumph to be remembered was accomplished while facing some of the Europe’s very powerfull badminton nations, among them Bulgaria and Turkey whose representatives compete at the Olympic Games on the regular basis.

The badminton Team of Turkey once again could defend the title of the Balkan Champion in the team event, the Silver medal was won by host Serbia and the Bronze medal was handed out to Greece and Romania. Special guests of the Serbian Badminton Association - Mr. Joao Matos, President of Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC), Mr. Puzant Kassabian, President of the Balkan Badminton Association and Ms. Corina Dan, BEC Director for Communication, were very pleased with all the segments of competition management in Karatas.

’’I have felt huge amount of positive energy among all the participants and that makes me very happy. The importance of this region for European Badminton and the firm belief in the people from Balkan countries is best represented through the fact that Radomir Jovovic, Chairman of the Board within Badminton Association of Serbia and Vice President of Balkan Badminton Association recently became the Member of Development Working Group of BEC composed of well selected individuals from our sport’’ – was the statement of Mr. João Matos, President of European Badminton Confederation (BEC).

Radomir Jovovic, the man behind Serbian Badminton, was more than happy with everything presented in Karatas:

’’Event management was flawless, and the satisfaction of all the people that participated in this event proves that we did a great job once more this year. It was extremely hard but we managed to overcome hardships in order to organize another big internatonal badminton event in our country, second in order after Serbian Youth International NOVI SAD 2013 which was held in June this year. We are very proud of our competitors and our Technical Staff. Among fierce competition they pushed the limits in every possible direction and won five medals, all of which represent a logical consequnce of continuous and tough work of the people behind Badminton Association of Serbia - an Institution celebrating two decades of existance in 2013. I would also like to congratulate our friends from Turkey on the title of the most successful team on this Balkaniade’’.

Jovovic also added: ’’This competition was extremly important for us because for the first time in history we had a chance to host a high official from European Federation. Mr. João Matos, President of Badminton Europe Confederation, was the guest of honor for Badminton Association of Serbia during the course of the Championships. Mr. Matos has presented Serbian Badminton and Serbian Sport with the great honour and I would like to use this opportunity and most sincerely thank him for doing so. We would like to express special gratitude to Serbian Ministry of Youth and Sport for help, support and for making this event possible. We would also like thank Olympic Committee of Serbia for help and support when it comes to financing our top young players who justified the resources invested in them in the best possible manner by achieving top level results here in Karatas. I also thank all of the Institutions that supported this event, as well as the friends of the Serbian Federation’’.
