Two 2013 Regional Projects, supported by Badminton Europe, took place in France and Slovakia in August. A Regional Project is a collaboration of a minimum of 3 BEC Member Associations from the same region, organised as Training Camp for the age groups U13, U15, U17, and/or U19 players or as a Coach education.

France (Aire sur la lys), 19-23 August 2013

The U15 elite single players from France, England, Germany and the Netherlands (main picture) had a high quality and intensive 5-day training camp in the north of France. The hall was entirely dedicated to badminton with all the facilities inside (carpets, power room, lunch provided).

The 12 girls and 12 boys had individual sessions, match play sessions and a team tournament to end the week. Just after the World Championships 2013 they had the opportunity to watch some of the best matches from China and to study the difference between youth games and the world's best players. Going back on court they tried to develope what they miss to reach the top level, especially the conduct of the rally and the overall tactical awereness of modern badminton and how it will possibly change in the future.

Sharing experiences between the coaches and having the opportunity to practise with different style of play should help them to catch the final goal: bringing more European players to be successful at Olympic Games and World Championships.

Slovakia (Presov), 11-18 August 2013

27 young players of the age group U15 and 8 coaches from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary and Slovenia attended the 7-day Badminton Europe financial supported Regional Project in Presov, Slovakia.  Head coach of the camp was Wenyan Li from China.

The sessions lasted 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. The training was focused on improving technical and tactical skills. After dinner, there were all kinds of social activities like swimming, football, playing cards, hiking, bingo, barbeque and more. The atmosphere during the training sessions was great.

Coach Wenyan tried to bring players motivation to practice badminton on a higher level and to become top players in the near future. Everybody had a very good time, a great badminton training and got new friends from other countries.
