Indonesian victory in men’s doubles

Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen finished second after losing in straight games to the World number one at the All England men’s doubles final.

The men’s doubles final at this year’s YONEX All England was a true thriller. Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo from Indonesia has been a dominating factor in men’s doubles the last one and a half year, and the Indonesian won the firste game against Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe 21-18.

Intense atmosphere
The speed was high, and the atmosphere in the Arena Birmingham was intense. A lot of Danish and Indonesian supporters cheered for their profiles. The Danes got a good start in the beginning for the second game, but at the interval it was the Indonesians who was leading 11-9.

The World number one, Sukamuljo and Gideon were for the second constructive year named All England winners. The final scores were 21-18 21-17.

- I am very disappointed, but today we lost to a better pair. It was really close. We both feel, that we could have won that match. It was the small mistakes and some lucky points, but they are for sure the best at the moment.

- We are for sure the second best, but of course we would like to win, Carsten Mogensen says.
