World Academy of Sport (WAoS) – Events Management & National Administrators Course lies under the BEC Badminton Administrative Support and Information Sharing programme (BASIS) which was developed by the Member Structure Commission in conjunction with the BEC Office.

BASIS has the overriding objective to help our Member Associations (MAs) develop in the area of administration and aims to achieve this objective by providing multiple levels of support. The BASIS logo featuring the upward flying shuttlecock is to illustrate improvement while maintaining the look and feel of our corporate logo. Alphabets in caps show the stability and durability of this programme.

12 event managers and 13 national sports administrators from 19 of BEC’s Member Associations took part in the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) – Event Management and National Administrators Course in Prague last week (24th & 25th November 2017) which was held alongside our 2017 European U17 Championships.

The two days face-to face course is a continuity of an online module prepared by the Badminton World Federation, in cooperation with the WAoS. All participants must complete the online module prior to the face-to-face course.
Participants were introduced to different aspects in event management and sports administration with multiple interactive and group discussions.

The course started with a combined session about Communication and the two groups were then split to their respective groups – Events & Administration.

Jimmy Andersen, Senior Manager at Badminton Europe says

- From Badminton Europe’s point of view, it was with great satisfaction to see such a large and qualified field of participants at both courses. The interaction and knowledge from the participants made it easy for the course leaders to run the courses, the first of its kind in Europe.

- We hope the participants found it worthwhile as well. We are pleased with our increasing interaction with our Member Associations and with the upcoming expansion of BASIS, we will be able to work even closer with our members in the time to come.
