Sunday 9 July was the first “real” day of the 2017 BEC Summer School, and everyone was excited to get started.
41 players from 14 European countries have traveled to Podčetrtek for the 2017 Summer School. They all started the morning with a general warm up which included funny games so that they could get to know each other. Then, they were divided into two groups where one would do exercises on court and the other do more physical exercises off court. After lunch, the two groups switched so every player experienced both.
24 coaches from countries like Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Iceland, Czech Republic, Moldova, Italy, Spain, Austria, Faroe Islands, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Latvia, started their Summer School with a BWF Shuttle Time-course. Basically, Shuttle Time is a school’s badminton programme which offers school teachers access to free resources, training and equipment. Shuttle Time lessons are designed to provide children with a positive image of badminton through many opportunities to have fun, engage with others and experience success.
After dinner, the players had some time to play different badminton games and matches against each other which gave them an opportunity to be more social. The atmosphere is already starting to loosen and everyone is getting more comfortable.
