2nd BEC Para-Badminton Education Course (2nd PBEC) will be organized from October 21-23, 2016 in Beek (NED).
This year, the course will offer some new content where there will be programs and exercises tailored for high performance and development coaches. In addition to that, our BEC para-badminton commission will also have a chance to soak in the course atmosphere where the BEC 2nd Para-Badminton Commission meeting will also be held during this event, on Sunday October 23, 2016.
If this is not enough, the icing on the cake is that the course will be held prior to the European Para-Badminton Championships from October 25-30, organized by the Badminton World Federation in the same location. We are happy to return to the Netherlands who hosted this course last December with great success.
There is only less than one week to the application deadline for the 2nd PBEC. If you want to participate, we ask to send your application(s) via your Member Association, to our Junior Manager, Tania Teoh tania.teoh@badmintoneurope.com.
This course is planned for coaches who are involved with para-badminton players. It will introduce the fundamental of coaching para-badminton players from grass root level to high performance. The main objectives of this course are:
- to educate para-badminton coaches by sharing knowledge
- to increase the information flow surrounding para-badminton between our Member Associations
- to guide coaches and Member Associations towards increasing the number of para-badminton players in Europe.
At last year’s education course, Badminton Europe welcomed 45 participants from 23 Member Associations. It was indeed a great turnout and we are hoping to see even more this year in October.
A brief flashback from the course content last year
Group discussions and networking, practical sessions on court focusing on standing players and players in wheelchair, fundamental ways of coaching para-badminton players were part of last year’s course content. Participants were all very enthusiastic and participated actively in all the group discussions and came up with interesting ideas for the future development of para-badminton in Europe.
A sneak preview of the course content this year
The main schedule of the course is the same as last year with interactive discussions and information sharing during the 3 days´ course. The highlight of this year is that there will be content specifically prepared for high performance coaches – coaches with international competing players and content for grass root level coaches – coaches who coach para-badminton players in different levels before joining the international scene.
This course is open to all para-badminton coaches recognized by your respective Member Association. If you have attended last year, you are equally welcome to join us again as our BEC presenter, Lyndon Williams has planned a thorough course content where both past and new participants will gain new knowledge and information.
“We are glad to be back in the Netherlands for yet another para-badminton course and we hope to welcome coaches from many of our MAs. I am sure they will all be able to benefit from sharing their knowledge and experience with each other. We know how much it means to be able to share and evolve from other’s experiences to create a closer union of para-badminton in Europe”, BEC Senior Manager, Jimmy Andersen expresses with great anticipation.
