The third Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) regional project organized by the German Badminton Federation took place in Brig, Switzerland from 18th-24th July with a total of 40 national junior players and 11 top level coaches from around Europe.

Brig has always been the location for the German Regional Project due to its strategic location for players from Austria, Ireland, Switzerland and Germany. On top of that, the hospitality and the high class facilities of Sporthotel Olympica and its sports hall is another reason this town was chosen to host the BEC 2015 Regional Project.

Besides players from the 4 Nations, this edition of the Regional Project welcomed players from Canada and Sweden for the one week camp. Players from Canada and Sweden were there as guests and their participation was fully on their own account. It is however a great asset for the Regional Project to welcome players from Canada and Sweden. The exchange of experiences and knowledge from them was much appreciated.

During the one week camp, players and coaches went through different training programmes. The intense mixture of individual training, physical training, group-sessions and team-matches were paired with leisure activities to ensure that all participants had a balance schedule during the week.

The players had a minimum 90 minutes individual training for everyone, five physical trainings in subgroups and four team matches during the week. Outdoor training was one of the highlights of the Regional Project. Players had to do some uphill runs and it was an unforgettable experience, sprinting up the hill with beautiful Swiss mountains as the background.

With the training facilities with 18 courts, wellness area, other leisure activities like bowling, beach volleyball and mountain biking, it is no doubt that the participants were spoilt with choices in Brig. The high class facilities of the Olympica were another key-factor to inspire athletes and coaches for even higher performances.

All in all, it was a successful Regional Project and we hope to see Brig again for the next Regional Project soon!
