France is now leading 2-0 in the semifinal team match against Germany.

It was a rematch from yesterday’s tough women’s singles clash between Yvonne Li and Qi Xuefei. The players fought through three games once again that saw the French player taking the win, just like yesterday.

While yesterday Christo Popov took on the challenge for the men’s singles, it was now his older brother’s turn to fight for the crucial second point. Toma Junior Popov secured the win in straight games against Fabian Roth, 21-13 21-13.

“My job was to win the quickest way possible because I might play two matches, so I’m really happy about this performance. I’m enjoying playing in front of our home crowd”, stated Popov.

Now it’s up to the women’s doubles duos, Linda Efler/ Isabel Lohau and Margot Lamber/ Anne Tran, whether we’ll be seeing France advancing to the finals with a 3-0 win just like Denmark did this morning or if Germany will strike back to fight for at least another match. “You never know before the match, but I think we have our chances”, said Popov about the women’s doubles match.
