Marin and Lane/Vendy secure finalist spots at the Swiss Open

The semifinals have concluded at the YONEX Swiss Open 2024.

Ben Lane/ Sean Vendy (ENG)

The day started strong for the Europeans as Ben Lane/ Sean Vendy took on Sabar Karyaman Gutama/ Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani from Indonesia. After almost winning the first game, the Brits came back strong with a 21-8 win in the second game and a 21-15 win in the third game, securing their first Super 300 final spot.

Carolina Marin (ESP)
Carolina Marin fought against 17-year-old Orleans Masters champion Tomoka Miyazaki from Japan. The 17-year-old put up a good fight, but Carolina Marin stuck to her gameplay and utilized her experience to advance to the finals with a 21-18, 21-12 result.

Rasmus Gemke (DEN)
Rasmus Gemke sought to reach a second Super 300 final after his second place finish at the YONEX German Open 2024. However, after a positive beginning with a 19-21 first game win, the Chinese Taipei player Chou Tien Chen won the second game in dominating fashion, 21-11. The third game was closer in the beginning, but Gemke couldn't keep up, and the third game ended 21-12.

Robin Tabeling/ Selena Piek (NED)
Robin Tabeling/ Selena Piek played against eigth seeded Goh Soon Huat/ Lai Shevon Jemie from Malaysia. After what had been a great tournament for the Dutch, "the shot accuracy is what made the difference" said Selena Piek in her post-match interview. The match concluded 21-18, 21-16.
