Badminton Europe has a new president

Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen and Tom BacherAfter a four month delay, due to the Icelandic ash cloud, the Badminton Europe Annual Delegates Meeting 2010 was finally held in Paris on Sunday 29 August alongside the World Championships. On the meeting Poul-Erik Høyer was elected new president.

The ADM was attended by 32 of Badminton Europe’s Member Association and also by several prominent guests, among these the BWF President, Dr. Kang Young Joong and the BWF Deputy President Paisan Rangsikitpho.

The World Championships starts today in Paris

The 2010 World Championships is starting today started in the French capital of Paris, where the European shuttlers are striving to take advantage of the “home soil” and win some medals.

Denmark is seen as the European country with the best possibilities of getting medals – but also the home favourite, Pi Hongyan, has a chance of taking a medal in her back garden.

Record number of players going to Dundalk

18 August 2010

Tuesday 17 August was the last day for submitting entries for the forthcoming European Senior Championships which will be played over six days in the Irish city of Dundalk starting Monday 27 September.

24 of Badminton Europe's Member Associations have sent in their entries - resulting in a fantastic number of 592 entered players.

European shuttlers ready for the Youth Olympic Games

Europe is well represented at the Youth Olympic Games’ badminton competition which starts Sunday 15 August in Singapore. Six Europeans have qualified for the men’s singles event while 11 European girls have made it to the Games. Turkey, France, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands have managed to qualify players in both events.
