The badminton world mourns the death of Preben B. Søborg. The Dane has been one of the most famous badminton photographers in the new era of our sport. Søborg died on Monday in Copenhagen at the age of 70.

He started his professional photographer career at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Very soon he fell in love with badminton and covered the biggest badminton events including Olympic Games and World Championships. Two of his most famous photos were flying Morten Frost in the 1984 All-England Championships final and Poul-Erik Høyer's celebration after having won the semi-finals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Both photos did win the "Photo of the Year" Award in Denmark.

For many years he has been the official photographer of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Our thoughts right now are with his family. He will be greatly missed.
