Jan O Jorgensen came through a mentally taxing three set match this evening against twice Orleans champion Pablo Abian to book a quarter final spot and to send the Spaniard packing.

Abian got off to the better start in what was a real testing match for the former world number 2. From the outset it was clear that the Dane was not impressed with the on court antics of his opponent and the Dane had to battle with himself to stay in the zone.

-I had to really work hard in there today and Pablo made it very difficult for me. You can discuss his ways of doing things on court and if you like it or not but it worked for him in the beginning and I struggled with it.

After loosing the opening set Jorgensen was forced to call on all his experience to get himself back into the match. There were several visits to the umpire’s chair during the match and at one point both men sorted out their own differences across the net while the umpire looked helplessly on. In the end the cream did float to the top and Jorgensen took the match 21-21 21-12 in set two and three.

-Badminton wise there was a lot I have to be happy about. 1 month ago I would have really struggled with this draining three set matches so today it proves I am stronger and getting better and better.

- I am growing into the tournament but one thing is for sure I will probably need to be more focused on the game plan on court as the games get tougher.
