Seeded Euro men’s singles through to R3

Arnaud Merkle can despite the 11th seeding on his shoulders still perform during Day 2 of BWF’s World Junior Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

In his second-round match on Tuesday, Merkle from France played against Peter Hrncar of Slovakia. The French won the first set 21-4 and finished a with a closer second set eventually led to his victory; 21-18. 

Merkle’s third round will be against Rahul Bharadwaj B.M of India, who has only played two sets so far in the tournament.

The only other seeded European men’s singles, Cristian Savin of Moldova, seeded 10th, and Nhat Nguyen of Ireland, seeded 8th, can likewise look forward to reaching the 3rd round on Wednesday. 


Turkish delight
Bengisu Erçetin and Nazlıcan Inci from Turkey carry the 5th seed in the women’s doubles event and can also look forward to another round on Wednesday.

Canillo and Opon from the Philippines was not a challenge for the Turkish pair as they beat them in two sets; 21-16, 21-13. Their next opponents will be Leung and Hkgyau from Hong Kong.

Erçetin and Inci have had quiete the streak since February on the World Ranking and achieved some great results on the European circuit.


Women’s doubles well represented
Quite many European women’s doubles has made it through the round of the day and hold the European flags high for the upcoming round on Wednesday. 

Amongst them are Slovakia, Denmark, Russia, France, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Scotland.
