The quarterfinals are now over and with the semifinals and finals taking place tomorrow, the last day of the ORLEN Polish Open 2023 is guaranteed to be an action-packed day of exciting match-ups.
Six wins later, Centre of Excellence player Irina Amalie Andersen has made it to the semifinals in Tarnów. Just like in all her matches in the tournament so far, the Dane won in straight games against Switzerland’s Dounia Pelupessy, 22-20 21-9.
“It’s been such a nice win for me to get to the semifinals, it was a bit emotional. It’s hard for me to find words right now,” said Andersen after her win. Tomorrow, she will be facing European bronze medallist Neslihan Yigit, Turkey.
Speaking of women’s singles players, top seed Yeo Jia Min, Singapore, will also be playing in tomorrow’s semifinals. “It’s been some time since I played an International Challenge tournament. I think it’s a good chance for me to test myself,” said the player after her win against Vivien Sandorhazi, Hungary.
Tomorrow, Yeo will be facing French player Rosy Oktavia Pancasari, France. “I hope that I can keep in good shape both mentally and physically for my next match.”
