After losing to An Se Young in the India Open final in January, Akane Yamaguchi is back on top after winning the women's singles title at the YONEX German Open.

In their third finals-clash of the year, An Se Young stood no chance against a dominant Akane Yamaguchi. What was expected to be an exciting thriller turned out as an undisputed victory for the current world number one from Japan. Yamaguchi won 21-11, 21-14 in only 34 minutes.

"I always enjoy playing the German Open because I perform well in this hall and could win this title for the fourth time now. I am very happy about this week", said Yamaguchi afterwards.

An Se Young could not bring a title to Korea but in men's doubles both finalists wore Korean flags on their chests. In an exciting match with uncountable jump smashes, Kim Won Ho and Choi Sol Gyu crowned themselves champions after 72 minutes of play, winning 21-19, 18-21, 21-19 against Kang/Seo.

Also the women's doubles title was taken by a Korean pair. Baek Ha Na and Lee So He won against their Japanese opponents and world's number two Matsuyama/Shida 21-19, 21-15.

After an intense week of badminton in Mülheim an der Ruhr, the finalists have only two days to recover before the prestigious All England start in Birmingham, England, on Tuesday.
