For many years Denmark has had men’s singles playing at the top. Poul Erik Høyer, Peter Gade, Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen to name a few. One, who could be the next big name, is Magnus Johannesen.

Johannesen is only 18 years old and still have a lot of years left of his badminton career. Talking about where he sees himself in 10 years, he says.

- In ten years, I will be 28. That have to mean I am on top of my career. At that time, I have won everything my dream contains and I still have the same joy regarding playing badminton and competing.

From Jutland to Sealand

Johannesen lives in Jutland in Denmark where he normally practices. Talking about when he will be ready to take the step and move to Copenhagen to be able to practice at the National Training Center, he says.

- Of course, I would like to train at the National Training Center as it can give me some sparring with some of the world’s best players. I expect and hope that I am ready to take that step in a year from now. It requires a lot of physical work the next period as I still need some physical strength.

Every badminton player would love to win the Olympic Games and World Championship. But if Johannesen had to choose another tournament he dreams about winning, which one would it be?

- The Olympic Games and World Championship are my big dreams to win, but if I had to choose another tournament, it would without a doubt be to win the All England Open.
