Team GB secured the gold on the semi-finals day at the European Games.

The Mixed Doubles final will be a clash between teammates: Chris and Gabby Adcock will play Lauren Smith and Marcus Ellis in the final, which is a rematch from the final at the Commonwealth Games 2018.

The Adcocks beat Irish pair Sam and Chloe Magee in the semi-finals in straight games 21-8 21-18.

- We came out very well. It has been a pattern all week, Gabby Adcock said.

Straight games win for Ellis and Smith

The second seeds, Lauren Smith and Marcus Ellis, won a close first game 21-19 against Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue from France.

The young French are for sure a pair to watch for the future, but in the semi-finals they came out short. Smith and Ellis dominated the second game and won in straight games 21-19 21-12.

- The speed was the key that made the difference. In a part of the first game we dropped our speed, but when we move up our speed, it is a bit too quick for most pairs, Marcus Ellis said.

Competitive fight ahead
Playing their teammates in the final is of course special for both pairs.

- It will not be much about surprising each other. We train with each other every single day, it will be more about who can perform on the day, Chris Adcock said.

- It will be a competitive match. Everyone wants to win. I think it will be a good game. We are both two top pairs in the world, Lauren Smith says.

The Mixed Doubles final will be played on Sunday.
