21 countries come to Reykjavík

110 players from 21 countries will participate in the 2014 Iceland International, which will be played from January 23rd to January 26th in Reykjavík, Iceland.  The tournament is an International Series event of the Badminton Europe Circuit and the prize money is $ 5.000 which is divided between winners in the WS, WD, MS, MD, WD and runner-up's in WS and MS.

The tournament starts Thursday January 23rd with qualification in MS. Main rounds in all events start Friday 24th. Maxime Moreels of Belgium is the top seed in the men's singles.  He is ranked number 107 in BWF World Ranking. Moreels reached the semi-finals in the USA International and Venezuela International 2013. Number two seed is Luka Wraber of Austria. He is ranked number 114 in the BWF World rankings. Wraber reached the quarter-finals stage at the Peru International and Romanian International 2013.

Zuzana Pavelkova of Czech Republic is the top seed woman's singles shuttler. She is ranked number 98 in the current BWF world rankings. Pavelkova ended in 5th to 8th place in USA International and The Finnish International 2013. Number two seed is Grace Gabriel from Nigeria, who is ranked number 99 in the BWF world rankings. Gabriel won the African Cup individual competition and the Kenya International in 2013. She also became runner up at the Mauritus International 2013.



Kevin Dennerly-Minturn and Oliver Leydon-Davis of New Zealand, ranked number 57 in BWF World Rankings, are top seeded in the men's doubles event. They are winners of International Mexicano 2013. Mattijs Dietricks and Freek Golinski of Belgium grabbed the second seeding spot. They are number 70 in BWF world ranking. The winners of the Iceland International 2012, Joe Morgan and Nic Strange of Wales are third seeded.

Their country women Sarah Thomas and Carissa Turner are the top seeds of the women's doubles category. They are ranked number 96 in the BWF world ranking. Seeded number two are Keady Smith and Alannah Stephenson from Ireland who are ranked number 197 in the BWF World ranking.

Oliver Leydon-Davis and Susannah Leydon-Davis of New Zealand are top seeded in the mixed doubles. They are ranked number 56 in BWF World Ranking and are the winners of International Mexicano 2013. Number two seeds are Ciaran Chambers and Sinead Chambers from Ireland.

The entered nations are Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Lithuania, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Scotland, Ukraine and Wales.
