Presov, one of the pioneer of the BEC Regional Project hosts welcomed players aged below 15 from Belarus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia from 26 July to 2 August at the Badminton Centre of Prešov to take part in the Slovak Regional Project. The Slovak Badminton Federation has been organizing the Regional Project since 2008 and this year is its sixth edition. Eleven boys and fourteen girls took part in the camp with the guidance from seven coaches.

Robert Frost from Denmark was the Head Coach during the camp. He and the other 6 coaches put in a lot of effort to plan and organize the training programs for the players. The players were training in two different groups. They trained an average of six hours a day, where the trainings consisted of various exercises and badminton games. They mainly used multi feeding and two to one exercises to improve both the offensive and defensive game.

The morning workouts were mainly focused on the hitting techniques while the afternoon sessions were concentrating more on footwork and fitness trainings. Part of the trainings took place outside of the badminton courts. The coaches scheduled four morning runs and three match sessions to the program, which proved to be very popular among the players.

”We would like to thank all involved players and coaches and we hope that this camp will help them in their further progress. I hope to see many of the players in European U15 Championships 2016 in Kazan.” said Peter Tarcala, General Secretary of the Slovak Badminton Federation after the Regional Project.

Besides the tough trainings, both the players and the coaches had time to relax and experience a lot of fun. Everyone had a chance to enjoy the warm weather in the middle of the week, when all participants visited the aqua park. To end the regional project, the organizers prepared a fantastic barbecue party just before the closing of the regional project.
