54 players and 24 coaches arrived yesterday to take part in the 2014 BEC Summer School. 7 staff coaches from 6 different countries will lead the training sessions during this year’s BEC Summer School. They had their first meeting in the morning as - after a short introduction - they discussed the weekly programme and the structure of the sessions. Every staff coach got familiar with their own role for Sunday, when the first training sessions will be on the programme.

The players and the coaches arrived in the afternoon. They had their first chance to get to know each other during dinner at Vejen Idrætscenter, where the 2014 BEC Summer School will take place. After dinner they followed the staff coaches on a guided tour around the sports center.

The evening ended with an information meeting where Jeroen van Dijk, Development Manager of Badminton Europe, and head coach here at the Vejen camp, presented the schedule for the coming week.

The sessions will start on Sunday morning for the players, where they will be divided into different groups, working with different staff coaches. In the meanwhile the 24 coaches will attend the WiB Coach Conference, which will focus on supporting the development of female coaches in Europe and provide insights to coaches of both genders on how to maximize the performances of their female players.
