It was only an average mornings work on the first full day of play at the European Individual for the Dutch mixed doubles pairs. 8th seeds Ties Van Der Lecq and Milou Lugters lost out to Vestergaard and Busch of Denmark while Wessel Van Der Aar and Alyssa Tirtosentono were taken to the wire in three sets by Swedes Hansson and Norrman before coming through 21-19 in the decider.
We had no information on the Swedish pair before the match so we had to adapt as the match progressed. We had some tough defeats in the team event so it is nice to get this win and off to a solid start.

The biggest upset of the mornings play came when Irish pair Adam McAllister and Rachael Woods defeated 4th seeded Dutch pair Gijs Duijs Madouc Linders. The Dutch looked to be in cruise control after winning the first 21-13 however the momentum completely shifted when the Irish took the second with a 21-19 win.

The Irish stole a march on the Dutch after the interval in the deciding set and the Dutch never recovered as McAllister and Woods ran out winners with a 21-18 third set victory.
- We were a bit nervous starting so we lost the fist but once we got going and into the rallies we always felt we could win.
