Badminton Europe offered Women in Badminton (WiB) scholarships for the participation at the 2018 BEC Congress. Five ladies from five different Member Associations have been granted the scholarship and they participated at the 2018 BEC Congress that took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The main purpose of this scholarship is to offer female staff members of the MA’s the opportunity to participate at the Congress in order to get new experience, make new acquaintances and get to know about the whole Congress organization process.
The ladies participated at all three parts of the BEC Congress: the Members’ Forum, the Annual Delegates’ Meeting and the 6th BEC Awards Gala. According to the scholarship recipients spending the weekend in Dubrovnik was not only nice because of the amazing location and warm weather, it was also an extremely productive weekend. They learned lots of new things, met a lot of new people and had the occasion to share some of their experiences with the other participants.

“It was really nice to meet all the 5 passionate ladies in person and get to know them better. Despite the tight schedule in Dubrovnik, we also managed to speak about their roles back in their countries and how their participation at the Congress will help them to further develop badminton in their respective countries. This scholarship initiative has seen a lot of interest over the past years and I hope that more Member Associations will apply for the future editions in the coming years,” stated
Tania Teoh, BEC staff responsible for the Women in Badminton Commission.
The BEC Congress next year will be hosted by the Badminton Federation of Ukraine, in Kiev. Badminton Europe is looking forward to welcome new WiB Scholarship recipients there. For more information about the scholarships, click
