The BWF World Tour moves on to its second tournament of the year with the YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2025, starting tomorrow. The tournament kicks off with the first round matches taking place tomorrow and on Wednesday.

On the first day, there is a must-watch clash between reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn and France's Alex Lanier. Vitidsarn, who was also the champion of this same event in 2023, will test his skills against Lanier, who has been making significant progress on the world stage. The two players also met in first round last week in Malaysia Open, with Vitidsarn winning 23-21 in the deciding set.

Toma Junior Popov, another strong French player, faces a challenging first-round match against Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto, who exited early in Malaysia last week after a tough three-game match with Shi Yu Qi. Popov, who just missed the quarterfinals in the previous tournament, will be looking to make it past this tough opponent.

The draw has once again placed Line Christophersen in a difficult matchup, this time against Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the women’s singles. Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour will take on Wen Chi Hsu from Chinese Taipei tomorrow.

World number one duo Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen also face a potential challenge fight from the start, drawing Korea’s Yong Jin/Min Hyuk Kang in what could be a tricky first round for the top seeds.

Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue made it to the quarterfinals last week in Malaysia, before meeting the winners of the tournament Puavaranukroh and Paewsampran. Tomorrow Gicquel and Delrue are facing Karunakaran and Variyath from India.
