The Scottish Open, the world's third-oldest badminton tournament, returns after a brief hiatus, drawing a stellar lineup of top European Circuit players.
The historic event, absent in recent years, last graced the badminton stage in 2021. The International Challenge tournament will be taking place from Thursday, October 5th, to Sunday, October 8th.
Among the homegrown talents, Christopher and Matthew Grimley, men's doubles top seeds, return to defend their 2021 title on familiar territory. Meanwhile, wild card entry James Robertson gears up to start off in a match against Austria's Collins Valentine Filimon in the opening clash.
Scottish pride continues with Rachel Sugden gracing the women’s singles main draw while the women's doubles pairing of Julie Macpherson/ Ciara Torrance, second seeds, are poised for success on home soil. The top-seeded Stoeva sisters are eager to reclaim their titles in a tournament they've conquered twice before, in 2014 and 2018.
Titleholder Callum Hemming, England, victorious in the previous edition alongside Jessica Pugh, will be competing alongside Estelle Van Leeuwen. The duo are fresh from their triumph in the Polish International. France's Qi Xuefei, the fifth seed, also brings a winning spirit to the competition, having claimed the title in 2019.
