Already into its second day, the second course of the ADVANCE European Badminton Coaching Education is underway in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
With another five intense days ahead, the ADVANCE European Badminton Coaching Education continues this week in Haarlem, the Netherlands. In this second course, 16 badminton coaches have gathered again to keep on broadening their coaching knowledge at the great facilities provided by Duinwijck Badminton Club and Badminton Nederland.
Robbert de Keijzer, Manager of Education and Club Support at Badminton Nederland, is glad to be hosting the second course of the ADVANCE Education. “Badminton Netherlands and BC Duinwijck are proud to host the second week of the ADVANCE course. This time, the course will be taking place in the DeGiro Hal. It is an excellent venue for the development of 16 new top trainers from all over Europe”.
When it comes to coaching, there are plenty of topics to cover and this time, our participants will be focusing on getting a better understanding of junior players along with their environmental, ethical, and care factors that play into coaching young players. Through a combination of theory, practice, and debates from the participants about their own experiences, the first day of the course already provided ground for insightful discussions.
“It has been a great first day of the course. The group of 16 participants is really committed and shows a keen interest in the different topics. We are having great discussions so I am very pleased with the first day. I truly believe that we have continued with a high commitment and involvement in the course that got started in Holbæk and is now continuing here in Haarlem. I’m looking forward to the next days to keep up these discussions and to continue developing this group of coaches”, Development & High Performance Senior Manager at Badminton Europe, Jacob Oehlenschlaeger, said.
On this second day of the course, participants have stepped on court to practise overhead shots and footwork, as well as delving into talent development and coaching philosophy topics.
This second course will be taking place until Sunday 8 January. The ADVANCE coaches will meet again in Glasgow, Scotland, from 27 to 31 March 2023 to continue with their coaching education. You can read more about this project
