Day 3 of the Barcelona Spain Masters got off to another winning start for European players, with Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen winning the first match of the day.

The Danes were the winners of their opponents from India, Krishna Prasad Garaga/Dhruv Kapila, over two games in reasonably comfortable fashion (21-17,21-14).

The Danes are hoping to gain match practice ahead of the All England Open in Birmingham next month when they will defend their runner up position of the tournament.

Performance is the focus

Mathias Boe, speaking to Badminton Europe after his Men’s Doubles match in Barcelona, has insisted that the result is not the main priority.

- For now, it is just about us getting back to our 100%, therefore we need to focus on the matches and not so much on the result, he said.

- We need to prepare well for the All England as we are defending a runner-up, so we need match practice and that is what we are getting here.

Concentration is key

Boe admitted that the Danish pair did not start off in the best of ways today, but gained control of the match in time.

The 38-year old believed that the Danish pair had the momentum in the match, but did state that if they did not play at their best, then it would be a difficult test for them.

- After a little bit of hesitating at the beginning of the match, we gained control of the match and had momentum, he continued.

- We knew that we would have to be 100% focused, they play very well, their movement on court is good and their drive game is also very good so you have to be alert.

- Currently, we are not in the shape of our lives, so each match is a struggle for us and no matter who is on the other side, he said.
