During the 65th edition of the Yonex Dutch Open 2013 (8-13 October 2013) the Dutch Badminton Association is hosting, in close cooperation with Badminton Europe and the Badminton World Federation an international coach conference.  

The subject of this coach conference is:  

“How can we develop badminton talents to achieve their Olympian dream”

Being an Olympian is an often heard goal for young badminton players. Only a few of them will achieve this dream. What does it take to become an Olympian? What aspects do we have to develop? And how can we develop these aspects worldwide ? All these questions are subject of this international conference.

Of course there will also be plenty of time to watch some great badminton as the entry fee of the coach conference includes full access to the 65th Yonex Dutch Open.

The coach conference will take place on Saturday the 12th of October 2013. It’s held at the tournament venue in Almere, the Netherlands.

                                                       

Speakers

Poul-Erik Høyer

Winner of Olympic gold medal in the Men’s singles, All-England Champion in 1995 and 1996. Current President of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Poul-Erik is going to tell the view of the BWF on how to stay a world sport and have multiple continents competing at the Olympics in order to reach a stronger position as an Olympic sport.

Poul-Erik will also be the chairman during the conference.

Claus Poulsen

Senior advisor Dutch Badminton Association, former national coach of Denmark and The Netherlands.

Claus gives an insight in what to train to become an Olympian Badminton player.

Peter Gade

Former world number one player, 5-times European Champion, multiple bronze and silver medals at World Championships and semi-finalist at the Olympics in 2000. Peter won the All-England Championships in 1999 and more than 30 Super Series and Grand-Prix events. He represented Denmark in four different Olympic games.

Of course Peter is going to tell us what he did to become and to stay at the top, his main focus will be on footwork on court.

Bettine Vriesekoop

Former European champion table tennis and well known with Chinese culture. Bettine was one of the first European table tennis player went to China to practice for a longer period against the Chinese top players. After her active table tennis career she lived for 3 years in Beijing as a journalist for a national news paper. She is sharing with us her story and her experience on the different approaches on “how to train“. Her main focus will be on mental & lifestyle (culture) skills.

* over 20 participants will pay an additional prices for housing of  € 110 for a single room and €125 for a double room 

Closing date for entry is 5th September, 2013.
