Poul-Erik Høyer has informed Badminton Europe (BEC) about his resignation as Confederation’s President. BEC Vice-President Joao Matos from Portugal will take over the president’s post until next year’s Annual Delegates’ Meeting.

Poul-Erik Høyer has announced his resignation as president of Badminton Europe (BEC), having been in charge since August 2010. The Dane, who replaced South Korean Dr. Kang Young Joong as BWF President in May this year, stepped down with immediate effect.

Høyer, 47, is leaving BEC by his own volition after three years of service, having chosen to focus on his important work as new elected President of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

His resignation has been accepted by the Badminton Europe Council, who met in Riga, Latvia this week-end.

Portuguese Joao Matos, BEC Vice-President, will take over the President’s post until next year’s Annual Delegates’ Meeting (April 2014).
