On the picturesque island of Hainan, at the southernmost tip of China, Lingshui will host the now entitled China Masters 2018. The BWF Tour Super 100 event will attract great talent from around Asia who are seeking the valuable ranking points on offer.
Europe will have two representatives present, both in the Men’s Singles. Wang Yuehang of England and the well-travelled Misha Zilberman of Israel.
Zilberman will be looking to use this stiff test in China to prepare for the European Championships, where he will compete in the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles. Zilberman told Badminton Europe how important the Europeans is in his quest to top 40 in the world.
Enjoying the moment
Wang Yuehang is fresh from a well-deserved victory in the British University & Colleges Sport Nationals, representing Loughborough University. This milestone may now propel him to new heights. Following his victory, Wang said
-It was a really good win to end my undergraduate. It feels nice that I can win a title for Loughborough before I graduate. I enjoyed the tournament, enjoyed the audience and I am enjoying the moment now.
Guess who is back?
She won Olympic gold in London 2012, 2 time Asian Champion, winner of 14 Super Series events. Do you know? It is of course China’s Li Xuerui. Li has been out of action for 20 months since her withdrawal from the Rio Olympics 2016. She has had surgery on her knee in Germany and is now returning to the court. This is tremendous news as we will be welcoming back a truly special talent to the Women’s Singles.
