Lamsfuss & Seidel find form ahead of Euros

It had been a pretty poor 2018 for Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel ahead of this weeks Orleans Master in France. Results had been hard to come by so men’s doubles success in Orleans was looking a long shot the week before the tournament.

The week leading up to the tournament changed all that as something clicked in training and the German’s felt something was coming good again.

-It had been a poor year but last week in training something clicked and I felt my form coming back said Seidel.

The Germans grew in confidence with each passing round and in today’s final Malaysia’s Chun Kang Shia & Wee Gieen Tan were no match for the dominance of Seidel and Lamsfuss.

-It is a great feeling to win here, said Lamsfuss. I won in mixed last year and this men’s doubles victory this year is even sweater given the poor run we had been on up to this.

The Germans can now look ahead with confidence and have one eye on a medal at the European Championships in a few weeks.

-We can now feel confident going into the Europeans in a few weeks. We should be seeded and then it is a matter of going to Spain and delivering good performances like we did here in Orleans this week.

Nohr & Thygesen peaking at right moment

Like the Germans Niclas Nohr and Sara Thygesen (pictured above) of Denmark seem to be starting to peak at just the right time, three weeks before the Europeans.

The Dane had a battle on their hands in today’s final, well for at least one set that is, as the challenge of Peter Kaesbauer and Olga Konon fell away early in the second game.

-Once we got the first set we felt we had the game under control. Winning in France is something we enjoy as we have fond memories of winning a silver medal at the European Championships two years ago in Vendee.

Gabriela & Stefani Stoeva steamrolled there way to another title on European soil taking just 36 minutes to blast their way past Delphine Delrue and Lea Palermo of France.

-It may have looked easy but the French girls really made us work especially in the second set. This is our second win here and now the big goal is to try and improve on our European silver medal from last year. The Europeans gold is our main target for this season.
