Anastasia Chervyakova and Olga Morozova (Russia) seemed to had their luck on their side today. Unfortunately things turned the other way for them during the match.
The bad luck already started yesterday when their flight to Birmingham was canceled. Chervyakova and Morozova had to stay in at the airport of Amsterdam. Early in the morning they were finally able to continue their flight to Birmingham.
It first did not seem to have an effect on their game play. They start to take a lead and kept it almost throughout the whole first game. Suddenly, the game turned around and also in the second game the Russians ladies could not keep up against Matsumoto/Nagahara (Japan)
- We started so well! But at some point our defense did not go as easy anymore, Morozova commented to Badminton Europe after their match.

Physically not good enough
- In the second set we also lost focus and were making so many mistakes, Morozova continued.
Chervyakova added: We know they had a good attack and defense. But we could not physically keep up with our defense.
-It also did not help that we slept at the airport yesterday, maybe it even helped us, Chervyakova laughed.
- But that is not the reason why we lost. We were physically not strong enough. Morozova ended.
