Dutchman Mark Caljouw has reached the semi-final of men’s singles at Bitburger Open. In the quarter finals he was too strong for Thai player Khosit Phetpradab, after also beating European Champion Rajiv Ouseph (England) the day before.

It is the first Grand Prix Gold semi-final for Mark. ‘Reaching a semi-final at a Grand Prix Gold tournament is just great’ Mark stated to Badminton Europe. Even after playing long matches, Mark is still satisfied with his game. ‘My game today was ‘okay’ to ‘good’. But of course it was amazing to beat the European Champion yesterday!’ Mark continued. ‘I am just really happy I reached this result’.

Mark will face Hsu Jen Hao from Chinese Taipei in the semi-final, who is also fourth seeded. After Bitburger Open, Mark will play Scottish Open and Italian International. About his next match and coming tournaments he says the same: ‘We will see it one step at a time’.
