The new BEC Elite Ranking has Centre of Excellence’s (COE) Iikka Heino climbing to the no. 18 spot in men’s singles and the no. 4 in men’s doubles.
- I'm happy to know my ranking is 18 but I’m yet not satisfied. My goal is to be top 10, so I will continue working hard on achieving that goal.
After joining the Centre of Excellence on 1 September this year, the young Finn have experienced more confidence with his shots and smarter tactics in his game, and currently he is the player from the centre with the highest European circuit ranking in men’s singles.
- I haven't played so many tournaments in last months, but I already feel better on court. The practice has been very good at the COE. I feel that I have worked with the right things and I can't wait to play more tournaments.
Top 4 in men’s doubles
With doubles partner Henri Aarnio, they represent Finland as the only men’s doubles in the top 25. For many weeks, they were ranked as no. 7 but from 30 October they jumped up to the no. 4. spot.
- We have played very good in last month’s tournaments. We have good spirit on court and we both enjoy playing together. I think this is our highest ranking so far.
Iikka Heino and Henri Aarnio went to the final at Hellas Open 2017 in the beginning of September and hope to show more progress in their next tournament. This week, Heino will play in Hungary, and afterwards Scottish Open and Irish Open will follow.
