Mary Margaret Wilson bagged a gold and a bronze in her Sport Class (SL4) in Colorado Springs last week when she competed in the first BWF US Para-Badminton International.

This is Wilson´s fifth para-badminton international tournament this year since March 2017. Wilson was classified as ´Confirm´ at the Spanish Para-Badminton International in Alcudia. It is also at this tournament that Wilson competed for the first time in a BWF Para-Badminton International.

Wilson´s experience at the tournament

- The tournament was very well organized from the start of the play and nearly always ran on time. It was great to see so many new players taking part in their first International and being helped by the more experienced competitors from most countries.

- On the other hand, the tournament was a challenge for me as it was played at an altitude which affected breathing and fitness. This took a few days to get used to and it was very difficult in the early stages of the games. Mary Margaret Wilson shared with Badminton Europe.

Scottish Head Coach on players´ performance

- I am extremely happy with the three girls (Mary Margaret Wilson, Deidre Nagle and Fiona Christie) and their results in Colorado! With the World Championships only 3 weeks away its very encouraging to see them continue to compete and win on an international level.

- This will give them confidence going in to the World´s and I am very excited to see their continued progression and success in the future. Kaity Hall told Badminton Europe.

Besides Wilson, Deidre Nagle bagged two bronzes in her Sport Class (SS6) in the Mixed Doubles and Women´s Singles while Fiona Christie on the other hand encountered some tough matches.
