The Korea Open fairy tale continues for Linda Efler and Marvin Emil Seidel as they have succeeded into the Superseries’ semifinal.
The Germans played a 56-minute-long quarterfinal against Soon Huat Goh and Shevon Jemie Lai from Malaysia.
Even though Efler and Seidel were in the lead in the beginning, Goh and Lai won; 21-18.
- At the end of the first set, we went a bit down with the speed, we played a bit too slow, Linda Efler explains to Badminton Europe.
‘Everything worked’
The European duo got off to a great start and have a comfortable lead all the way through, all thanks to some changes in their game in the second set.
- We made much more pressure to the net. Our service Situation was quite good and nearly everything worked.
Their lead gets picked up in the deciding set, but at 18-18 they manage to take the last three points that ensured the victory.
- At the end of the third set, we felt very nervous. That was why we lost a bit of our speed and lost a few points.
Three European doubles in the semis
The German pair will be the only Europeans represented in the mixed doubles event for the matches on Saturday.
World no. 1s Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe of Denmark beat their fellow countrymen Mads Pieler-Kolding and Mads Conrad-Petersen in one of the men's doubles quarter-finals.
Danish women's doubles Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen finished the European doubles streak, as they won 21-11, 21-12 against a Chinese pair.
Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus showed great form on Thursday, where he survived six match points. But today he missed the spot in the men’s singles semi-final as he lost in three sets to Tzu Wei Wang; 11-21, 21-19, 14-21.
