Badminton Europe’s Women in Badminton Commission has replaced the name ´Women in the Spotlight´ to ‘
Badminton for Women’
in one of its initiatives since April 2017. The reason to the change of name is to be inclusive for both men and women. Both genders will be seen to feature in our Women in Badminton activities (interviews, videos, award nominations, etc). ‘
Badminton for Women’ will also be used as the new award name at the 6th BEC Awards Gala next year, replacing ‘BEC Women in Badminton’ Award.
Chair of the BEC Women in Badminton Commission,
Klavs Andreassen on the name change, ‘
The main reason is because we want to honor the person who do something to get women into badminton. This award can also be for a man’. The nomination process has begun since April and all Member Associations are invited to nominate any person/project for this award.
Nominations need to be sent through the national federation and there is no limit to the total nominations. Cross nominations are also welcome. (E.g. Country A nominates person(s)/project(s) from Country B.) The deadline to send in the nomination(s) is on
Monday,
26th June 2017 before
12:00 CEST.
