Experts in Baku

In order to help the Member Associations, Badminton Europe organized a BWF Coach Education level 1 expert course in close cooperation with the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. The course took place in Baku, Azerbaijan on 27-29 of January, 2017. The goal of the course was to educate more experts who are able to help the Member Associations in their delivery of the BWF level 1 coach education.

On the first day, the seven participants were introduced to the BWF level 1 resources and were asked to make a schedule for a level 1 coach education course. Each group had to make a presentation and explain why the choose the different subjects in their schedule. The second task was the practical delivery where the participants had to work as tutors. The main focus in this task was on how to observe, deliver and give feedback. This was the longest exercise of the day. At the end of the day the participants had to fill out the assessment sheets.

On the second day, the participants started with a presentation of their assessment sheet with an explanation which points they were able to fill out based on their observations they did the day before. The next task was also done in the classroom. This time the participants had to make a schedule for a BWF level 1 tutor course. The schedules were presented and discussed. Just before the lunch break the participants started with the second practical delivery in the badminton hall. The main focus in this exercises was to train the questioning skills of the tutor who was giving feedback. The discussions after each delivery improved and became a little bit longer than planned.

The last day of the course was used on the theory questions in the candidate assessment pack, the different learning styles and the individual feedback to each participant.
