Congratulations Karin and Lucas!

December 12th 2016 – Dubai. A day to be remembered by two of our top European para-badminton players and the European para-badminton community when Lucas Mazur (FRA) and Karin Suter-Erath (SUI) were named the BWF Para-Badminton Player of the Year in the Male and Female categories respectively at the BWF Players’ Reception and Gala Dinner held at the Armani Hotel in the iconic Burj Khalifa.

Lucas was chosen for the award from the shortlisted male players of Thomas Wandschneider (GER), Bartlomiej Mroz (KOR) and Lee Sam Seop (KOR) while Karin was chosen from the other shortlisted talented female players of Katrin Seibert (GER), Emine Seckin (TUR) and Amnouy Wetwithan (THA).

• Besides Women´s Singles, Karin competes also in Women´s Doubles with Sonja Hassler (SUI), Emine Seckin (TUR) and Mixed Doubles with Martin Rooke (ENG)
• Karin won three golds in the recent BWF European Para-Badminton Championships 2016 in Beek, Netherlands
• Karin is the first ever BEC Best Para-Badminton Player of the Year Award 2014 winner, presented by Badminton Europe in Paris at the 3rd BEC Awards Gala

I am very happy to receive the title of player of the year alongside the great international stars. Congratulations again to Lucas and Karin and we wish them all the best for their badminton journey in 2017 and beyond. Para-badminton will make its maiden appearance as a medal event at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
