No, it was not just their second Superseries title of the year, it was indeed a very emotional victory for Denmark's super women's doubles duo at the Yonex Hong Kong Open Superseries. Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl dedicated the win to Denmark's national coach Lars Uhre, who is going to retire from his coaching position with the Danish Badminton Association (Badminton Denmark) at the end of the year.

„We really wanted to give Lars a win“

The Danes needed only 45 minutes to defeat Huang Dongping/Li Yinhui of China 21-19, 21-10. Rytter Juhl and Pedersen saw off Bao Yixin/Yu Xiaohan and Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei in earlier rounds.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve won this tournament. We’ve been struggling in some of the early matches,” said Rytter Juhl to the BWF. “We had a good talk with our coach Lars. I’m getting emotional because it’s his last tournament so we really wanted to give him a win. He’s been there for us for many years.”

Boe/Mogensen stunned by Kamura/Sonoda

Unseeded duo of Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda of Japan stunned former European Champions Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in today's finals. The Asians won 21-19, 21-19 to claim their first Superseries victory.

„Today was another disappointing Sunday for us. We couldn't bring out the level from the previous days. Our today's opponents were better at seeking the luck - and it paid off for them. Credit to them. Losing back to back finals, is not enough for us, however getting there is. Of course we are full of disappointment right now, mainly because our final was the last match our national coach Lars Uhre coached, and we couldn't end and almost perfect coaching career for him with a win“, wrote the duo on their official Facebook site.

In the women's singles final Taiwanese shuttler Tai Tzu Ying beat P.V.Sindhu in a one-sided match 21-17, 21-15 to win the Yonex Hong Kong Open and claim her second Superseries title of 2016.

Tai booked her ticket to the final by beating world No 1 and Rio Games gold medalist Carolina Marin of Spain in the semi-finals of the 400.000 Dollar event.
