BEC’s Girls Camp-project was organized May 18-22, 2016, in Aire-sur-la-Lys near the city of Lille. The French Badminton Federation (FFBaD) hosted the 5 day, all-girls camp funded by Badminton Europe, which was participated by 32 payers and 11 coaches.

As a part of BEC’s regional projects, U15 and U17 girls with elite potential and coaches from France, Germany, Holland, Denmark, England, and Spain came together to practice and share their badminton knowledge.

Medalists from the previous U15 European Championships were among the 32 girls. They proposed a very high quality training and were able to share their experience. The coaches shared views as well on matters like how to cope with “Girls Training Issues”. Sharing was an overall thread for the camp, it was highly valued and worked really well.

Professionalism from both players and coaches allowed expertise to be exchanged. Knowledge from the different parts was shared during the sessions and helped everyone to extend their own perception on how to build a high level badminton career for girls with elite potential in Europe.

A friendly atmosphere, high determination, full focus during the training brought the girls to bring their best; learning a lot from each other and improving. The final goal to advance more European girls to the top of the future Olympic stage was fulfilled, and we hope to see some of these girls reaching the top of the podiums around the world.
