Indonesia is the place to be for Denmark's shuttler Jan Ø. Jørgensen. The former European Champion (2014) has an astonishing run at the Superseries event in Jakarta. In 2014, the Dane sensationally took the title when he defeated world champion Chen Long of China in straight games in the semi-finals and then overcame Kenichi Tago of Japan in the finals to become the first European to lift the Indonesian trophy.

A year later he also finished runner-up … and this year, Jørgensen again advanced to Sunday's final of the 900.000 Dollars event.

But it was former world number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia who beat the Danish star shuttler in a hard-fought final to win his sixth Indonesia Open career title.

The current world No. 2 battled back from one game down to defeat
Jørgensen 17-21, 21-19, 21-17 in a thriller that was marked by a series of long rallies, terrific dives and dramatic smashes.

Fifth seed Jørgensen dominated in the early stages of the final and appeared to be heading for victory as he took the lead in the second game. But Lee fought back with enormous power and skillful smashes, winning a series of tough rallies to get back the control of the game.

By the final stages of the third game, Lee was firmly in control, winning point after point as it seemed that Jørgensen's initial confidence faded.

"I felt that I had the game in my hand and I think I should have won it," Jørgensen said in a post match press conference.

„But what a week it has been. I must say I didn't expect to go this far at this year's Indonesia Open. The last months has been very tough withups and downs. Coming straight from a huge Thomas Cup win - with all the struggles I have had I am proud to have reached the final here for the third consecutive year“, the 28 year old says on his official Facebook page.

I'm devastated that I couldn't finish it - at the same time I am happy with my performance all week. I have fought with all my heart in every game. I wanna say a big thanks to all you guys at Istora for making it the best place in the world to play.“
