All Geared Up for 2016

The Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) will be hosting the Board of Directors (BoD) and Commissions Meetings this weekend (15 -17 January) in the city center of Copenhagen.

With 10 Directors and 15 external Commission Members from all around Europe, this weekend will be filled with plenty of discussions and decision making moments in Hotel Copenhagen Island.

BEC has eight commissions to date and the Athletes Commission will be its ninth commission, pending the athlete’s election in February during the 2016 European Men´s & Women´s Team Championships (#EMWTC16) in Kazan, Russia. The eight commissions consist of external experts from our Member Associations and every commission is chaired by a BEC Director.

  • Fan Base
  • High Performance
  • Major Events
  • Member Structures
  • Para-Badminton
  • Women in Badminton
  • Sport for All
´We believe that it is important to involve our stakeholders (the European Member Associations) when it comes to sharing ideas on how to improve our sport in different areas and on different levels. The expertise we have around Europe is a key asset and we are keen to be inclusive to utilize the ideas and knowledge.  We are positive that this is the right move,’ explained BEC President, Gregory Verpoorten who is looking forward to a great badminton weekend with plenty of meetings and discussions in Copenhagen.

He added, ´I would like to thank all who will be present for their commitment and effort in making a difference for European badminton.´

The meetings will start off with Commissions Meetings on both Friday and Saturday followed by a Disciplinary Working Group on Saturday. The Board of Directors meeting will take place on Sunday.
