Chris and Gabby Adock will bid for their first Bitburger Open title on Sunday after comfortably coming through their semi-final contest. England's top seeds had been made to work hard in their last eight clash a day earlier but there was no such problems against unseeded Dutch pair Jacco Arends and Selena Piek.

The 2013 runners-up and last year's semi-finalists won 21-14, 21-13 in just 29 minutes. It was the shortest match of Saturday's semi-final session in Saarbrücken, Germany and Chris was aiming for more of the same against unseeded Polish pair and 2012 European Champions Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba on Sunday.

"A good performance today against the Dutch pair," he posted on Twitter. "Hopefully we  keep our form going for tomorrow."

Marc Zwiebler beaten on home soil

World number 20 and home faourite Marc Zwiebler is out of the Bitburger Open after losing a three-game, semi-final encounter to Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong. Zwiebler's great two-year’s run (2013 & 2014) of reaching the final at the 120.000 Dollars event was ended by the world number 28, who won 18-21, 21-11, 21-12.

“It worked very well in the opening game. But then I started to make easy mistake while he did not make any at all. In the end I did not have the energy to turn the match around”, said Zwiebler who suffers from a foot injury since a couple of months.

Actually it is the first time the 31-year-old – European Champion in 2012 - won a game against Wong Wing Ki Vincent. Wong faces his compatriot Ng Ka Long Angus in the final.

Rajiv Ouseph was unable to maintain his recent form on court however as he exited at the semi-final stage of the men's singles. The England number one lost out on a decider to Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long Angus 21-16, 18-21, 21-18 in 50 minutes.

Kirsty Gilmour’s hopes of reaching the final of the Grand Prix Gold event were ended by Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan. Busanan, the world number 17 and seventh-seed in Saarbrücken, defeated the Scottish number in straight games 21-17, 21-15.

The men’s doubles final is a repeat of the 2014 European Champions gold medal match as Denmark’s Mads Kolding and Mads Conrad, the Yonex French Open runner-ups, will face Russia’s Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov. Both pairs advanced to the finals by beating pairs from Japan.
