Hello and good bye...Thank you, Stoke Mandeville for the memories and experiences. Coaches and players cried of joy and happiness when they won but sob with sorrow and disappointment after they lost at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2015 in the Stoke Mandeville Stadium. Winning and losing is part and parcel of the game. The BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2015 concluded yesterday and 21 new World Champions were crowned.
Let us flash back on the week that has passed. 37 countries with its best para-badminton players gathered in Stoke Mandeville, the birthplace of the modern Paralympic Games to participate in 21 events from six Sport Classes, fighting for the world titles.
The European contingent had a fruitful outing with 12 medalling countries out of 19 participating European countries in the World Championships. A total of 7 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze medals were bagged, making Europe the second best continent behind Asia in the medal tally.

In parallel with the badminton matches, there were numerous workshops, forums and meetings which took place during the whole duration of the World Championships organized by Badminton ENGLAND.
The Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) Para-Badminton Commissio took the opportunity of this historical event to meet and had its 3rd BEC Para-Badminton Commission Meeting on Friday, 11th September.

The meeting was attended by five commission members (pic) and two BEC managers. The attendees discussed on different aspects of para-badminton in Europe and ways to improve the sport. The outcome of the meeting was very positive and the Commission is looking forward to develop and strengthen the level of para-badminton in Europe.
While all the teams are already leaving for their home countries, it is definitely not a final goodbye for this year as the 1st Peru Para-Badminton International is up next, taking place from 14-18 October in Lima. As for the next edition of the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships, 2017 is awaiting and see you in two years!
