On the organization of the 2nd Indonesia Para-Badminton International, Andy Hines-Randle, the BWF Integrity and Para-Badminton Manager expressed his satisfaction, “It’s great to see Indonesia hosting a BWF Para-Badminton International for the second year. It shows Indonesia’s continued commitment to develop and promote para-badminton, especially with the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games being an important long term focus. Obviously the event in Solo last year made a big impression, with increased entries for this year’s event. A number of countries are returning to Solo to compete, with plenty of new faces travelling to experience the atmosphere that badminton in Indonesia is famous for. I feel it will be a very competitive event with a lot of good matches for all to watch and enjoy”.
The players taking part in Solo consists of 47 male and 23 female from six Asian countries and four European countries. Güenter Kluetze, Technical Delegate of the tournament on the players´ participation in Solo, “It is the first time that a second international tournament in one year is in Asia. We had the China Para-Badminton International earlier in May. So with that background the participation is fine. It is understandable that many South East Asian countries take part in this tournament so that the players can be classified internationally. Some of the players competing here have already made their spot for the 2015 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in Stoke Mandeville, England in September”.
