Badminton Europe is organising a Media Conference at the 2010 European Men’s and Women’s Team Championships. This will take place at the Warsaw Marriott Hotel from 10.00 – 12.00 on Friday, 19 February 2010. Four speakers with different experiences of working in the media will present relevant topics to inspire badminton players.

Raising a player’s profile, being self-responsible and more marketable
Christine Skropke (Germany) is a Badminton Europe Council member and the Director for Marketing. Skropke was a national badminton player for Germany from 1987 – 1995 and still competes at World and European Senior Championships winning gold medals at both events. She is a regular presenter at the German Open. Skropke’s professional role is Head of Marketing for Secunet AG.

Poul-Erik Høyer

Building strong relationships with sponsors
Poul-Erik Høyer (Denmark) is one of Europe’s most successful badminton players. Høyer was a national badminton player for Denmark from 1985 – 2000 and won the men’s singles Olympic gold medal in Atlanta 1996 plus numerous other titles including three European Championships and two All England Opens. Høyer regularly works as a TV commentator and is deputy chairman of the Badminton Association of Denmark.

Mark Phelan (Ireland) is a regular reporter for the popular badminton news website Badzine. Phelan is also a photographer for badmintonphoto.com. More recently he has established GPS www.globalplayerservices.net which helps to create new opportunities and services for badminton professionals.

Gill Clark

How to communicate better with the media
Gill Clark (England) is a former world number one in both women’s and mixed doubles winning many titles including four gold medals at European Championships. Clark has one of the most famous voices in badminton as she is regularly commentating for TV most notably from World Championships and Super Series events.
